Headliners and Thunderstorms

What a strange school day! Just as we pulled into the park for our nature walk a pop-up thunderstorm dumped raindrops the size of marbles on us. We took cover in the park shelter and did a quick revision of the hike and made it an "observe and sit". Both kids drew special pictures about the storm and they wrote a poem. My son's picture included the poor man waiting for his wife to pick him up. I am thankful we were not on our bikes like he was! There was a moment when we thought the tornado sirens started but it must have been some other random noise but after that the kids and I decided to wait in the car until his wife came. How scary would it have been for him to be stuck at the park and have a tornado come?!

Creativity abounded during English as well. The assignment was to come up with 3 headlines for a newspaper using vocabulary words. They are as follows:

1) Haphazard Truck Driver Discontinues Snare Trap Sales
2) Police Disperse Warning for Un-methodical Thieves that Release Poison Agents
3) Gold Miners Maintain Torrent of Collected Treasure
